LACAIS is a Chapter of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) serving the Latin American and Caribbean region.

The goal of the Chapter is to promote the exchange of ideas, experiences, and knowledge among scholars and professionals engaged in the development, management and use of information and communication systems and technology in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The various activities of the chapter are to promote the exchange of professional communications among scholars and professionals responsible for education, design, implementation, and management of information systems in both private and public organizations. 

LACAIS participates in the following activities every year:

1. Americas Conference of Information Systems (AMCIS). At every AMCIS conference, we organize an in-person chapter meeting. We should send a room request to Robina. 

2. The AMCIS Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin America track. This track is part of AMCIS and it promotes IS/IT/MIS research in and about Latin America. Latin America makes up a large part of the Americas and its population speaks primarily Spanish or Portuguese. This track opens a space for rigorous and high-quality research that is written in Spanish or Portuguese while also accepting papers in English that bring together IS/IT/MIS research and Latin America.

Our Track has three mini-tracks: MIS/IT/IS in Latin America, submissions in English, MIS/IT/IS Research in Spanish, MIS/IT/IS Research in Portuguese.

3. The Information Systems in Latin America (ISLA). ISLA is an ancillary conference of AMCIS held online with no cost for participants.

4. Information Systems Research Seminars (ReSIS), Starting August 29, 2022 (until December, 2022) we have the Information Systems Research webinars organized by Alexandre Reis Graeml. The purpose of these seminars is to provide training in the preparation of research articles that can be submitted to the ISLA or AMCIS conference in 2023. The seminars are in English and the invited professors are international researchers with vast experience publishing in the area of ​​systems.

5. Revista Latinoamericana y del Caribe de la Asociación De Sistemas De Información (RELCASI). RELCASI is a double-blind peer reviewed publication of the Association of Information Systems published in Spanish and Portuguese. Selected submissions to the AMCIS LACAIS track or ISLA will be invited to revise and submit to the journal RELCASI. Link to our Journal RELCASI.

The Latin American and Caribbean Association for Information Systems (LACAIS), a chapter of AIS, invites researchers to submit papers or videos to the 10th Conference on Information Systems in Latin America (ISLA 2026). The conference will be held virtually on August 17 to 19, 2026, as part of AMCIS.
